The Finalists’ Exhibit

This year’s Henry Jones Art Prize showcased an exceptional range of artistic styles and techniques, highlighting the immense potential of Tasmania’s emerging artists. With 142 entries, the judges faced a challenging yet rewarding task of selecting just 57 finalists.

For the first time in the prize’s history, two winners were chosen, each receiving a $20,000 prize. Katie Barron’s contemporary painting “Flossed Innocence” took home the Painting prize, while Nicole O’Loughlin’s intricate embroidery piece “Glen Dhu, where I stand, 2022” earned her the inaugural Mixed Media prize.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to both winners and express our gratitude to all 142 entrants, as well as our esteemed judges Katy Woodroffe, David Keeling, and Megan Dick.

Don’t miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in the creative expressions of our finalists. Their works will be on display in the Packing Room & The IXL Atrium until Monday, December 11, from 10 am to 6 pm daily.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to purchase artworks and vote for their favourite, with the artist of the most popular work receiving a $1,000 voucher. There will also be a Packing Room Prize, chosen by the hanging team, providing one lucky artist with a $750 voucher.
