Our Rooms and Suites

Every individually designed room and suite at the Henry Jones possesses its own character, and tells its own chapter of the Henry Jones story. Historic and contemporary qualities are finely balanced—original heritage features are celebrated and complemented by innovative design elements, hand cut sandstone walls hold compelling works of modern art, and rough-hewn timbers frame sparkling views of the harbour and city.

Peacock Terrace

The Peacock Terrace once formed part of the original home of Jam Factory founders George and Margaret Peacock, and was later Sir Henry Jones’ private residence. The 1823 terrace is now the oldest standing building on ‘Old Wharf’ and houses Tasmania’s earliest spiral staircase.

A suite inspired by the history of Hobart’s settlement, the private and tranquil Peacock Terrace offers two elegant bedrooms, sitting room and kitchenette housed over two floors.  The artwork selected for the Peacock Terrace interprets and reflects on the settlement of Hobart and the rich culture and history of this city.

Your waterfront view frames the original landing site of Hobart’s first European settlers—now colourful Sullivan’s Cove and the city of Hobart, stretching towards the lush foothills of Mount Wellington.
