2025 Winners Announced 

Thank you to all artists who submitted their work to enter The Henry Jones Art Prize the prize in 2025. There were a record number of entries and a remarkable range of talents across different mediums.

After much consideration by the judging panel, the 2025 winners were announced at a gala event on 19 November 2025. We congratulate the following artists, and thank of those who entered.

The public exhibition of winners and finalists will be displayed from 21 November – 4 December in The Packing Room and Atrium at The Henry Jones Art Hotel. Visitors to the exhibition can engage directly by purchasing artworks and voting for their favourite pieces in the People’s Choice Award.

2025 Winners

Zoe Fitzherbert won the Painting Prize and $20,000 for her work titled Oberon’s Throne.

Harry Blizzard won the Mixed Media Prize and $20,000 for his work titled Thirsty Work.

Highly commended was awarded to Jess Bateman for her work Dollop. And the Hangers Choice went to Ruby Roberts for The Gorge.

About the Henry Jones Art Prize

The Henry Jones Art Prize is a key initiative by The Henry Jones Art Hotel to support and promote Tasmania’s emerging, contemporary artists. With a prize pool totalling over $40,000, the prize is divided into two major categories—Painting and Mixed Media—each awarding $20,000 to the winners.

There is a People’s Choice Award of $1,000, sponsored by Artery Hobart, for the artist whose work receives the most votes during the exhibition, and the Packing Room Prize, selected by the hanging team, grants one artist $750.

The hotel, known for its dedication and passion to support Tasmanian artists, houses almost 500 evolving works from both emerging and established Tasmanian artist as a working gallery. The Henry Jones Art Prize not only provides substantial financial recognition but also offers a platform for artists to launch and develop their careers.

 

How to Enter

The Henry Jones Art Prize is open to Tasmanian Emerging Artists.

An emerging artist is in the early stages (first five years) of pursuing a career as an artist, whether a graduate, still studying or having had a career change where art is becoming a priority.

Entries in August each year, and close around the end of September.
