Hobart Luxury Accommodation

At The Henry Jones Art Hotel history and art collide. Located in the Hunter Street precinct, Hobart’s oldest waterfront warehouses have been thoughtfully reimagined as Australia’s first dedicated art hotel.

Through the rise and fall of industries, including Sir Henry Jones’ IXL jam empire, the harbourside location has been central to Hobart and its people. Today, the precinct hums with galleries, award-winning restaurants, bars and cafes.

Start your day with fresh breakfast and coffee at The Lounge or relax with a cheeky tipple at IXL Long Bar. Explore local produce at Peacock and Jones and indulge in a succulent steak at Landscape Restaurant & Grill.

From our range of restaurants and bars to the 500 artworks that line our walls, there’s so much to explore at The Henry Jones.

Wine & Dine

Think Tasmania – food and wine swiftly follow. We are dedicated to reimagining flavours. Our restaurants and bars are a bounty of seasonal flare. Our chefs reinvent by design. They are spoilt by produce on hand. Our cocktail masters are delicate in manner, often pouring to live tunes in our IXL Long Bar.

We welcome Nicholas Hopwood to the hotel this month, as our Artist in Residence.

Nicholas Hopwood is a self taught realist oil painter, living and working in the Huon Valley / tahun’e-linah, Tasmania / lutruwita. Drawing inspiration from daily life in and around the Valley. Finding universal truths in the faces of loved ones, and in the objects surrounding him.

“I love paintings, for as long as I can remember I have loved paintings, for me there has always been a sense of wizardry and magic within them that directly touches my heart.

“I love to paint, I love the feel of brushing paint on canvas, of squeezing paint from the tube, love the smell of oil and solvent. I love the process and the outcome of making paintings.”

Nicholas Hopwood’s new exhibition Box Forts and Kokeshi will also be featured in the Packing Room gallery from 6th May to 15th June, 2022.
